Proverbs 10:1. The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. The wisdom of parenting is to be a source of authority that is consistent and firm. Too many parents do more yelling, then add to this yelling a failure to back up what they threatened. Children pick up on this quickly and soon lead the parents around by the nose (notwithstanding the parent’s denial this occurs). Because the threat is empty, attempted follow-through has no teeth. On the other hand, those who parent with consistency and firmness, even-handed in their approach, they will struggle, but as the years unfold, the parents are vindicated.
